For large chunks of my childhood and young adulthood, I kept a journal at my bedside. My writings were always done in pencil, not so much to correct mistakes, although that happened, on occasion, but more because I was certain these writings would become valuable to my descendants, therefore needed protection from water damage. Silly me.
Thanks to the invention of laptops, my writing has mostly turned into typing, and occurs any place I can sit, alone. It doesn’t need to be quiet but I do need to be undisturbed. My husband will verify that I am not very pleasant when my thought flow is interrupted. My favorite places to write are on the couch, bed, or patio; lounging with knees bent or feet propped up. Cozy places; that’s where I like to write. The ambiance of a coffee shop is appealing, especially if they have a couch or large chair with footrest, or small table. Apparently, my feet need to be elevated as a prerequisite to writing. I do have a desk; a very nice desk, yet I don’t use it unless I’m doing unpleasant things, like paying bills. For me, writing is pleasure and lounging is pleasure, therefore it’s only natural to incorporate the two.
Although my blog is intended as support for individuals over 40, most subjects are applicable to all ages. Do you have suggestions for subjects on which I should write? Send your topic suggestions via my Contact Me page. Thanks for following me on this journey.
I can well relate to your choice of writing spaces; sitting right now in a quiet corner at home, on a comfortable couch with my feet propped up.

I still keep a journal with me. I have been compelled at times to pull over to the side of the road to jot down an idea for a Bible study, piece of prose, poem or character sketch.

Impressive! I usually record a voice memo when I have ideas. Now, if I could manage to actually go back and listen to those memos. 😦
